SUNBURY — Shirley M. Doebler, 89, of Twelfth Street passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

She was born Nov. 9, 1924, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Catherine (Kaiser) Bordner.  On Feb. 22, 1946, she married Robert E. Doebler who preceded her in death on July 1, 2009.

Shirley was a 1942 graduate of Northumberland High School.

She was currently attending Salem Lutheran Church, Selinsgrove

Mrs. Doebler was a homemaker and an avid reader.

She is survived by her three daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda D. Baker, of East Aurora, N.Y., Nancy A. and Donald N. Neidig, of Selinsgrove, and Robin D. and William F. Ostrum III, of Middletown, Conn.; six grandchildren, Katherine Baker Byrnes, of Buffalo, N.Y., Jamie Neidig-Wheaton, of Ashburn, Va., Jessica Leffler, of Glen Allen, Va., Jenna Neidig, of Winfield, William F. Ostrum IV, of Alexandria, Va., Nicholas Robert Ostrum, of Berlin, Germany; and 11 great-grandchildren, Grace, Andrew, Abigail, Christopher, Anna, Nathan, Robert, Gunnar, Carter, Ella and Archer.

In addition to her husband and parents, Shirley was preceded in death by one grandson, Aaron Robert Baker; three brothers, William, Roy and George Bordner; and two sisters, Harriet Stewart and Grace Adams.

Friends and family may call from noon to 1 p.m. today at The Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King Street, Northumberland, where the funeral will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Amanda K. Range officiating.

Burial will follow in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
