Rev. Richard L. Kellett, 84, Northumberland
Rev. Richard L. Kellett, 84, of Neitz Road, Northumberland, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, April 4, 2024.
Richard was born Sept. 29, 1939, in Riverside, New Jersey, son of the late Wilbur M. Kellett and Lena (Brandenberger) Moore. He married Murdena Wright and they enjoyed over 63 years of marriage.
Rev. Kellett was a graduate of Oxford Area HS, received a bachelor's degree from Lincoln University, and completed a Master’s of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary.
Rev. Kellett was the beloved pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Northumberland for 45 years and faithfully served the congregation and presbytery relying on God’s grace and guidance. His ministry continued into retirement supporting many local churches with pastoral needs.
He also served many years as a Spiritual Director for the Susquehanna Valley Tres Dias and impacted many for the kingdom of God.
He fervently enjoyed following sports, especially when his grandchildren were participating. He was an avid tennis player throughout his lifetime.
Spending time with family, maintaining awareness of their activities and supporting them all with prayer was of great importance to Richard.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter and son-in-law Christine and Melvin Martin; two sons and daughters-in-law Bradley and Lisa Kellett, Matthew and Karen Kellett; grandchildren Alex, Derek, Gina, MaryBeth and Cynthia; great-grandchildren Azlyn, Isla, Remy, Baker, Ella, Nora, Oliver and Cedric.
He was preceded in death by his brother Robert M. Kellett.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, April 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King Street, Northumberland, and again Thursday, April 11 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 114 Queen St., Northumberland, where the funeral service will follow at 11 with Rev. Richard Miller officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Northumberland.
Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Northumberland.
