William Derk Obituary

Northumberland - William E. Derk, 89 of Redman Acres Road passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023.

Bill was born July 5, 1934 in Sunbury a son of the late Harry G. and Ruth C. Derk.  On August 23, 1958 he married the former Donna V. Stroup who preceded him in death on February 14, 2021.

He was a graduate of Williamsport High School.  He was employed by various local businesses and retired from Masonite Corp. 

Bill was a volunteer fire fighter with West Hanover Fire Company, was a life member of the Point Twp. and Northumberland Number 1 Fire Companies and the American Legion Post #44.

He had a great love for trains and as an outdoorsman enjoyed; boating, snowmobiling and hunting. He was very handy with the ability to fix just about anything.

Mr. Derk is survived by, one son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Kathy Derk of Winfield, one daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Joe Miller of Shermansdale, grandchildren and spouses, Stephanie and Josh Burkholder, Jessica Derk, Valerie and Kyle Wagner, Kimberlie and Andrew Wert, James Hepschmidt, Jr., Samuel and Susanna Hepschmidt, five great-grandchildren and one brother, Harry G. Derk, Jr.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Derk.

Friends and family may visit from 10:00am to 11:00am on Friday, November 3, 2023 at the Sunbury Bible Church, 135 Spruce Hollow Road, Northumberland followed by a memorial service at 11:00am with Rev. Preston Atkinson officiating.

Interment will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
