William C Boyer

William Boyer, 74, of Northumberland, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 10, 2018 at his home.  

Bill was born in Sunbury on September 10, 1943 a son of the late S. Helen (Chesney) and Charles W. “Butch” Boyer. He married Barbara (Slack) Boyer on November 23, 1968. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this year. This past June the entire family was able to celebrate at one of his favorite places, Walt Disney World.

Bill graduated from Sunbury HS in 1961, and was proud to serve as class president until his death.

He graduated from Gettysburg College in 1965 an fulfilled his childhood dream of becoming a math teacher. He retired from Shikellamy School District in 2002 after 37 years of service. Bill enjoyed preparing tax returns for many years and was proud of the fact that all of the returns were completed on paper without using a computer. Many of his clients were family and friends or co workers. He looked forward to their yearly visits.

Bill was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Sunbury, where he was baptized, confirmed, and married. Faith, Church, Family, and Friends were foremost in his life.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, Bill, is survived by two daughters Stephanie Boyer of Lewisburg and Lisa Nava of Selinsgrove, and two granddaughters Chelsea Boyer and Haylee Nava. He was preceded in death by his brother Carl in 2014. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins, and close  friends.

What made him truly happy was spending time with family and friends, planning family vacations, coaching his daughters and granddaughters, and attending their sporting events. He loved recalling stories and never tired of telling them over and over.

Bill was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished by his family and friends.

Friends and family may call at the Zion Lutheran Church 5th and Market Sts. Sunbury on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 11 am until a 1 pm Funeral service with the Rev. Richard Fangmann officiating. Interment will follow at Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury, PA.
