Walter R. "Jim" Kerstetter, 86, of State Route 61, Sunbury, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, Nov. 27.
Born Dec. 7, 1938, in Milroy, he was the son of the late Forrest Kerstetter Sr. and Clara Mae (Ranck) Kerstetter. On Oct.1, 1955, he married Constance J. (Hornberger) Kerstetter, who survives. Together they shared seven decades of devotion, partnership, and cherished memories.
Jim was employed by Butter Krust Baking Company for approximately 40 years, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication.
He attended Stonington Baptist Church and served as President of the SUN Corvette Club. A lifelong enthusiast of cars, Walter especially enjoyed traveling across the country in his motor home with his wife, meeting new people, and spending meaningful time with his family and friends. He took great pride in caring for his home and was well-known for always maintaining a meticulous and beautiful yard.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Janet Kerstetter; one daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Ron Rabuck; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary and Lori. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 3, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Blank Funeral Home, 395 State Street, Sunbury. The funeral service will follow at 10 a.m., with Pastor Brad Gray officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy.
Jim will be remembered for his kindness, his love of conversation, and his unwavering devotion to those he loved. His legacy lives on in the family he treasured and the many lives he touched.
