Thomas Robert Reed, 91, of County Line Road, Selinsgrove, passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025.

He was born Feb. 16, 1933, in Hughesville, the only child of the late Carl L. and Bernice K. (Kistner) Reed. On May 27, 1977, he married the former Shirley L. Peters who survives. They celebrated 47 years of marriage.

Tom was a 1951 graduate of Watsontown High School where he played football.

He joined the Navy in January 1952 and served until December 1953. He served as an electricians mate in a minesweeping squadron and was stationed in Long Beach, Calif.

Tom was employed by IBM, Susquehanna University and then started his business, Tri-County Water Treatment & Office Equipment Sales & Service in Selinsgrove and later moved the business to Sunbury until he retired. After retirement, he worked part-time for Advance Auto Parts in Sunbury.

He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Northumberland where he served on various committees and was the church treasurer for many years.

Tom was a life member of the American Legion, Selinsgrove, AARP and the Builders Association.

He was known as Pappy Tom and was a Jack of All Trades and was gifted at woodworking, a Mr. Fix-it.

He is survived by sons, Thomas and Brenda Reed, Michael and Jodie Reed, Todd and Michele Johnson; daughters, Cynthia Lockcuff, Carla and Kevin Beck, Julie and Charles Shipe, and Rebecca Acker, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine E. Reed on May 23, 2016; a son, Chris A. Johnson on March 28, 2016; two granddaughters, Victoria L. Martin in April 2013 and Jennifer E. Johnson in December 1981; brother-in-law, William Derr; brothers, Harold, Charles, Archie and Marlin Peters; sister, Catherine Derr, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements are by the Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury.
