Thomas Edward Kashuba was born on July 25th, 1947, at the Shamokin State Hospital. Thomas was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a proud airman who served his country in the Vietnam War. He lived a full life and has now gone on to be with the Lord.
Thomas loved fishing, golfing, landscaping, and formatting home videos for his customers, but there was nothing he enjoyed more than spending time with his family.
Thomas graduated from Coal Township High School as a member of the class of 1965. Upon graduating, Thomas served in the United States Air Force in the Vietnam War. Following his tour of duty in Vietnam, Thomas continued to serve at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland as a reciprocating engine mechanic. It was Andrews Air Force Base where he met his soulmate and loving wife of 55 years. Thomas and Cynthia returned to Shamokin to be closer to his family before building their home at the top of the hill in Sunbury where they raised their children and grandchildren. When the two returned to Pennsylvania, Thomas served in various roles for the Lewisburg Federal Penitentiary before retiring after 27 years of service.
In his spare time, Thomas loved tending to his plants and garden as well as sitting on his porch swing overlooking all of Sunbury. Thomas left a lasting impression on everyone that knew him because of his infectious smile and laughter.
He was preceded in death by his mother Anna Kashuba, his father Edward Kashuba, and his brother, Joseph Kashuba. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Kashuba, his children, Michelle Leigh Kashuba and Thomas Martin Kashuba, his grandchildren, Brandon Kashuba, Jackson Kashuba, and Noah Wise, his two sisters, Celeste Bloscovich and Suzanne McFadden, and many other loving friends and family members.
Thomas's family would ask that in lieu of flowers, those that remember him donate to the ASPCA or other organizations that care for animals in need as Thomas was a proud supporter of the ASPCA and other animal care organizations.
A viewing will be held Monday, June 9, from 10:00- 10:50am at the Blank Funeral Home, 395 State Street, Sunbury where the funeral mass will be held at 11:00am with Rev. Jerome Kleponis officiating.
