Sharon Meckley

Sunbury - Sharon E. Meckley, 76, of State Route 890 went home to be with her Lord, Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital, NC.

Sharon was born April 20, 1947, a daughter of the late Samuel W. and Pearl A. (Nuss) Haupt.  On October 1, 1966, she married J. Leonard Meckley Sr., who survives.

She was a graduate of Sunbury High School.  

Sharon was a high school librarian for Shikellamy School District for several years.

She was a devoted member of the Augustaville Wesleyan Church, Paxinos.

She enjoyed gardening, making cards and picture books which she generously gave as gifts, and most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  

In addition to her husband she is survived by one daughter and son-in-law Lynette Marie and Arthur Thomas, two sons and daughters-in-law J. Leonard Jr. and Joanie Meckley and Todd Andrew and Lisa Meckley, grandchildren Michael, Amy, Samuel, Rachael, Angela, Nathan, Jake and Addison, great grandchildren Aiden and Maya, one brother and sister-in-law Samuel and Roberta Haupt and many nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her sister Sandra Paul.

Friends and family may visit Saturday at the Augustaville Wesleyan Church, 2548 PA-890, Paxinos 17860, where the funeral service will be held at 11:00am with Pastor Greg Clendaniels officiating.

Interment will be private in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.

Arrangements are by the Zweier Funeral Home, 157 Chestnut Street, Sunbury.
