Sarah I. Brown, 88 of South Fourth Street, Sunbury, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, at Sunbury Nursing & Rehabilitation where she had been a resident.
She was born on Feb. 3, 1936, in Northumberland, a daughter of the late Franklin L. and Arlee R. (Kelly) Anderson. In 1954, she married George E. Brown who preceded her in death on May 2, 1972.
Sarah was a 1954 graduate of Northumberland High School. She retired after many years of service as a patient aide for ManorCare, Sunbury.
Mrs. Brown was a former member of the Susquehanna Valley Church of Christ.
She was a talented artist who enjoyed sewing, painting and writing poetry.
She is survived by one son, George D. Brown of Sunbury; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betsy S. and Eamonn T. Smyth of Sunbury, Leslie V. and Robert L. Martz, Dalmatia; grandchildren, Marissa Conway, Hope Geesaman and husband, Jacob, Mitchell Martz and wife, Elizabeth, and her great-grandchildren, Aaron, Isabella, Harley, Tily, Jay, Teddy, Charlie and Stevie.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sarah was preceded in death by her brother, Frank L. "Sonny" Anderson.
A graveside service will held on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024, in Mountainview Cemetery, Mill Creek, Pa., at 11 a.m.
Arrangements are by the Zweier Funeral Home, 157 Chestnut Street, Sunbury.
