Robert Leroy Lenig, 91, of Shamokin Dam, PA, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2024 at Nottingham Village, after an extended illness.
He was born May 21, 1933, in Sunbury, PA, a son of the late Marlin Lee and Viola C. (Emerick) Lenig.
He retired from Weis Markets in 1995, after 29 years of service. Robert served in The United States Army from April of 1953 to March of 1955 in Japan. Prior to his enlistment he was employed by Laiglon Industries in Northumberland.
During his Pineknotter High School years, Robert participated in basketball. Later he was an avid golfer and participated in several bowling leagues. He was an ever faithful Penn State and Philadelphia Eagles football fan. In his free time, he would stop by The Fence Drive-In or The Squeeze-In.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Lee Lenig and wife Sally (Schriver) Lenig. Also preceding him in death was Helen Tobias, a longtime friend and golf partner.
He will be fondly remembered by surviving extended family members, Allen J. Kashner and Linda J. Kashner.
A private Burial Service will be held in the Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury.
Arrangements are by the Blank Funeral Home, 395 State Street, Sunbury.
