MILTON — Robert “Bob” D. Derk, 83, formerly of Northumberland, passed away Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at Milton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Bob was born Aug. 14, 1931, in Northumberland, a son of the late John and Catherine (Nuss) Derk.
He was a 1950 graduate of Northumberland High School.
Following graduation he entered the Air Force, serving in the Korean War where he received three bronze stars.
Following his return to Northumberland he worked for several different institutions, including Bucknell University, prior to starting his career with Rea & Derick.
Bob worked for Rea & Derick as an inventory control coordinator and manager until his retirement in 1991.
Bob greatly enjoyed gardening, doing carpentry, fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Deb and Frank Martz, of Danville; his son, Scott Derk, of Milton; two grandchildren, Kendra and Logan; his sister, Carol and husband, Ray Zimmerman, of Northumberland; one stepdaughter, Lisa and husband Bobby Hand, of Northumberland; stepgrandchildren, Megan and Andy; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Trinity and Lily.
Bob was preceded in death by his twin brother Dixon Derk.
Friends and family may visit from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King Street, Northumberland where the funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kris Brown officiating.
Burial will follow in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stoning
