Obituary


Richard C. Witmer, 78, of Liverpool, passed peacefully on Saturday morning, February 6, 2021.

He was born on November 17, 1942, to the late John G. and Edna M. (Sausman) Witmer.

Rick was a 1961 graduate of Newport High School.  He worked at the Quaker Oats Company in Shiremanstown for 36 years before retiring on 7/26/2001, the day his first grandchild was born.
 He was a devoted family man and loved his wife of 56 years, his children and grandchildren fiercely. Rick gave selflessly of himself and he will be forever loved and missed by his family and friends.
Rick is survived by his loving wife Doris (Willow), a son Richard C. Witmer II and his wife Erika (Moreno) of Omaha, NE, a daughter Beth A. Murphy and her husband Todd of Harrisburg, 5 grandchildren: Ryan and Emma Murphy, Richard, Sofia and Gabriela Witmer, brothers James and Gary Witmer, and sister Constance Dietz.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ruth P. Shearer, brothers William G. Witmer and John G. Witmer III and his half sister Dorothy Haller.

A walk through visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 13th from 12-1:30pm at the Aline United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant Mills, PA  17853.  
Interment will be private in Hunters Valley Cemetery, Liverpool.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Richard’s name may be made to the Aline United Methodist Church c/o Angela Bordner, Aline United Methodist Church, 413 Backus Woods Road, Mt. Pleasant Mills, PA 17853.

Arrangements are by the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King Street, Northumberland.
