On May 30th, 2026 at 2:59pm Richard Eugene Spriggle—affectionately known as "Dick" by friends—entered into his eternal rest at UPMC West Shore in Mechanicsburg. 

A truck driver/owner-operator for 53 years, he made many connections and held friendships throughout the country. He leased onto Lisa Express (which later became S&L) based out of Milton, PA for many years, followed by some time leased with Keystone Carriers based in Mt Pleasant Mills. He attended East Juniata High School in his youth.

He was a kind and generous man who relished telling "tall tales" sheerly for good-natured fun, a loving husband and father, and a cherished brother. Some examples of his "tall tales" include his famous country singer status, world-class NASCAR driving career, and his reputation as a legendary baseball player. He was also an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan in his younger years.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Nora Elizabeth and Thomas Jefferson Spriggle; his maternal grandparents, Alma and Earl Wright; both parents, Thressa Adeline (Wright) Spriggle and Harold Spriggle; two brothers-in law, John Ehrisman and Carl Shellenberger; his cousin, Tom Spriggle, who was like a brother to him; his wife, Charlene H. (Frey) Spriggle. 

He is survived by 5 sisters and 2 brothers-in-law: Nora Jane (Larry) Snyder, Judy Shellenberger, Beverly Ehrisman, Marlene (Marlin Jr, "Junior") Shemory, and Dixie Barth; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; two daughters and sons-in-law, Angela (Thomas) Young and Brandy (Benjamin) Benavidez; 4 grandsons: Logan Richard, Andrew Thomas, Benji Lee, and Atlas Isiah; 2 granddaughters: Tori Lynn and Thressa Jade.

A memorial service will be held at Chapman Community Chapel in Port Trevorton, PA at 3 o'clock on June 26th. A private, family burial will take place at a later date.
