Ray Kauffman Obituary

Selinsgrove – Ray H. Kauffman, 95 of Pine Lane and former 50 year resident of King Street Northumberland, went home to be with the Lord, September 14, 2016 at the Manor at Penn Village where he had been a resident.  

Ray was born May 10, 1921 in Monroe Twp., Snyder Co. a son of the late Harry and Lena Marie (Walter) Kauffman.  He married Emma I. Fisher who preceded him in death in 1992.  October 16, 2000 he married Betty L. Slear who survives.  

He was a 1940 graduate of Northumberland High School.  Following high school he joined the Army, serving during WWII.  After his return from the military he began working for Conrail the PA Railroad. He worked as an engineer until his retirement in 1980.

Ray was a member of Christ Community Church in Selinsgrove.

His passion was tending his vegetable and flower gardens and particularly his sun flowers.  He also enjoyed riding his bike to the marina.

In addition to his wife Betty,  Ray is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Karen and Tom Burkett of Sun City, AZ, his son and daughter-in-law Terry and Judy Kauffman of Northumberland, grandchildren Jeffrey Kauffman and his wife Teresa, Heather Hetrick and her husband Tom, Greg Kauffman and Cody Burkett, step grandchildren Janeen Brosius, Jason Brosius and Joshua Fegley, three great grandchildren, 1 step great grandchild, four great-great grandchildren, two step great-great grandchildren, three sisters and one brother-in-law Margaret and George Wendt of Selinsgrove, Mary McCellan of Middleburg, Faye Ritchner of Selinsgrove and numerous nieces and nephews who Ray thought so much of.  

In addition to his first wife Emma, Ray is preceded in death by his stepdaughter Dianna Fegley and brothers-in-law Glenn McCellan and Harold “Slim” Ritchner.

At Ray’s request there will be no funeral services.  

Donations in Ray’s memory may be made to Christ Community United Methodist Church, 3939 Park Rd., Selinsgrove, PA 17870 or to the American Cancer Society 1948 E 3rd Street, Williamsport, PA 17701.
