Oscar V. Johnson Obituary

Sunbury - Oscar V. Johnson, 88, of Reagan Street, passed away Friday, April 11, at his home.

Oscar was born December 27, 1936, in Sunbury a son of the late Truman and Grace (Lehman) Johnson.  On August 2, 1958, he married the love of his life Carol (Raker) Johnson who survives.

He was a 1954 graduate of Mahanoy High School and then joined the United States Army in January 1956 and served until September 1961.  

Oscar was a self-employed dry wall finisher.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and watching the Phillies but his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandkids and siblings.  He had a great passion for young people and mentoring them to the Lord.

Oscar is survived by his son Steven Johnson, daughter Joni Jones (Kevin), daughter-in-law Susie, grandchildren Kelly, Joanna, Stephanie, Julie, Joshua and Anita, eight great grandchildren, three brothers Talmage, Ralph and Dale, and one sister Ida.

He was preceded in death by his son Danny, brothers Ira, Truman, and Harry, sisters Francis and Norma.

A visitation will be held Friday, April 18 from 10:00am-11:00am at the Sunbury Bible Church, 135 Spruce Hollow Road, Northumberland where the funeral service will follow at 11:00am with Pastor Preston Atkinson officiating.

Interment will follow in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.

Arrangements are by the Blank Funeral Home, 395 State Street, Sunbury.
