Matthew F. Brown, 62, of S. Tenth Street, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at his home.
Matt was born June 19, 1964, in Allentown, a son of the late Franklin D. and Dolores (Dax) Brown. He was a 1982 graduate of Shikellamy High School, where he excelled in sports, especially at middle linebacker in football.
As a truck driver, Mr. Brown drove for local trucking companies including Witmer Fuels and Bimbo Bakery. He was currently employed at Weis Markets in the Milk Plant.
Matt was active in many organizations including: Sunbury Steam Fire Co. #1, Loyal Order of Moose and Fraternal Order of Eagles, both of Sunbury.
He found great joy in hunting, fishing, playing golf, shooting pool and watching NASCAR, football and baseball.
Matt is survived by his son, Christopher M. Brown of Mechanicsburg; his brother and sister-in-law, Mark D. and Pam S. Brown of Sunbury; nieces, Michelle Weirick and Brook Brown; great-nephews, Camden and Caige Weirick and Grayson Britton; and his longtime partner, Linda Carter.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Zweier Funeral Home, 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury.
Afterward, a celebration of life will be held at the Sunbury Steam Fire Co. #1's, 242 Penn St., Sunbury. Bring a covered dish or dessert if you would like.
