Matthew Bean Obituary

Sunbury - Matthew E. Bean, Sr., 57 of Fairmont Ave, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Matt was born on January 26, 1967 in Sunbury a son of the late Richard, Sr. and Alma (Fullmer) Bean.  

He attended Shamokin and Shikellamy Schools. He was employed with Resilite, Northumberland and was a longtime employee, lastly as a salesman with Beiter's of Sunbury.

His greatest enjoyment came from time spent outdoors, hunting and fishing.  He had a passion for sports including; golf and softball and coaching his son in Football, wrestling and baseball.

In addition to soul mate of 30 years, Christine A. (Swanger) Reedy he is survived by; one son and daughter-in-law, Matthew E., Jr. and Kira R. Bean of Dalmatia, two step-daughters, Cathy M. Mull of Sunbury, Tiffany J. Mull of Shamokin, nine grandchildren, Colton, Brantley, Kimberly, Tanneesha, Alexus, Kevin, Zakary, Rylee and Tyrell, two great-grandchildren, Mersaydes and Mavrick, brother, Phillip Bean of Milton, two sisters and one brother-in-law, Deborah Carr of Lewisburg, Alice and Rick Long of Bloomsburg.  He took great pride in being "Uncle Matt" to his many nieces and nephews, having received a kidney from his niece, Laura Diaz gaining him 17 additional years of life.

He was preceded in death by; three brothers, Richard Jr., Louis and James Bean. 

A visitation will be held from 9:00am to 10:00am on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at the Zweier Funeral Home, 157 Chestnut Stret, Sunbury followed by funeral services at 10:00am with Stanley Geiswhite officiating.

Burial will follow in Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury
