Obituary

Marjorie H. "Marge" Steinmetz, 93, of Northumberland, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2021, with her family by her side in Nottingham Village, where she resided for seven years.

She was born Jan. 27, 1928, in Scranton, a daughter of the late Conrad and Florence (Hamm) Linn. September 1950 she married her husband, Fred Steinmetz, who preceded her in death in 1987.

Throughout most of her early life Marjorie was a member of St. Mary's Assumption Church, in Scranton. She was active in the Altar and Rosary Society and a member of the quilting club.

She was also involved in the Mother's Club at South Scranton Central Catholic High School where she served two years as president. Upon moving to Northumberland, she was a member of St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church and upon closing became a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church, Sunbury.

Marjorie was a graduate of Scranton Technical School High School and was employed at the city of Scranton, Tax Office.

While she enjoyed all the activities at Nottingham Village, her favorite was Bingo. After going through her drawers there were 37 Bingo Dollars that she collected for her great-grandchildren. Needless to say they enjoyed going to the candy store while visiting her there. She enjoyed her TV shows at night, followed by crime shows, that is if she could find the channel or the remote.

Marge will be fondly remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Paul and JoAnn Steinmetz of Myerstown; two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda and Stephen McHale of Northumberland, with whom she resided with for 21 years, and Nancy Steinmetz and her partner, Linda Kohl of Coopersburg; five grandchildren, Matthew, Gregory and his wife Colleen and Kate Steinmetz, Stephanie Bowman and husband Mike, Ryan McHale and wife Jenn; five great-grandchildren, Stella and Sloane Bowman, Benjamin and Cole Steinmetz and Finn McHale.
