Marian Snyder Obituary

Marian G. Snyder of Northumberland went to home to be with The Lord on November 5th, 2014 after a short stay in the skilled nursing care unit at Sunbury Community Hospital. She was born November 30th, 1931 at the Sunbury Hospital. She was the daughter of John Kemberling and Katie ( Van Buskirk) Kemberling, sister to John, Betty, Bob, Mildred, Kay, Alma, Esther, Helen, and Melba.
Marian attended the Selinsgrove High School and was a member of the flag twirling team. She graduated in 1949. While attending school she worked at Susquehanna University with her father who owned and operated the Stanley Theatre in Selinsgrove. Marian enjoyed ice-skating at The Little Norway Skating Rink on the Isle of Que in Selinsgrove. She married Richard L. Snyder of Northumberland in 1950. Together they built and operated Ric-Mar restaurant in 1974 and were in business for 23 years before retiring. Marian was a member of the Point Township auxiliary and worked in the hospital aid program and also helped with the Republican Party for election day in her early years. She was a member of the Tuckahoe Fire Company auxiliary and was also a member of the Trinity Lutheran Bible class of Point Township and the Christian Club at Country Cupboard and in recent years attended Emmanuel Bible Fellowship Church. She enjoyed their trips to Canada, trips to the beach with her children, gardening and trips to their cabin in Tioga County. Most of all she enjoyed having her entire family join her for holiday dinners and picnics. Marian was an avid lover of animals mostly her pets Chestnut, Sandy, Buddy and Nikki. Marian is survived by six children and their spouses. Gregory Snyder and spouse Taunda Snyder, Bonnie Dodge and spouse Robert Dodge, Rodney Snyder and spouse Sandra Snyder, Brenda Lahr and spouse Rick Lahr, Todd Snyder and spouse Donna Snyder, Chad Snyder and spouse Karen Snyder. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren Christopher Snyder, Kahla Snyder, Julie Small, Janelle Stephens, Tara Enoch, Rodney Snyder Jr, Crystal Hollenbach, Stephanie Brown, Dawn Lahr, Jenna Lahr, Whitney Snyder and Bryce Snyder, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
Friends and family may visit Monday from  10-11am at the Emmanuel Bible Fellowship Church, 967 Mile Hill Road, Sunbury followed by the funeral service at 11 with the Rev. Charles Cole officiating.
Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Northumberland.
