Margaret M. Desmond, 82, of Ironstone Drive, Northumberland, passed away peacefully, Monday, June 3, 2024, in Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
Margaret was born April 21, 1942, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late John M. and Alice E. Desmond.
She was a 1960 graduate of Milton High School, received her bachelor's degree from Bloomsburg State College in 1964 and then her master's degree from Shippensburg University.
Margaret was a second-grade teacher for Cumberland Valley and North Penn School District, where she sang and danced with her students for over 30 years.
She was a lifelong Catholic.
Margaret enjoyed square dancing, traveling, shopping, Broadway and her cats. She was proud of her 98% Irish Heritage.
She is survived by her nieces, Joan Brooks (Chris Savidge), Colleen Ruths (David); great-nephews, Garret Ruths, Jonathan (Jen) Ruths and their two boys; and great-niece, Abigail Ruths.
Margaret was preceded in death by her sisters, Patricia Desmond and Jacqueline Epler.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, June 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 109 Broadway, Milton.
Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Milton.
Donations in her memory can be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
