Loretta “Gidget” Mitchel, 62, of Sunbury, peacefully passed away at her residence on June 8, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Lester Mitchel, sharing over 32 years together and 22 years of loving marriage. Born on September 27, 1962, in Lewisburg, she was a daughter of the late Loretta “Midge” (Martz) Reedy.
Gidget worked as a laborer for several different places throughout her career, but she was most proud of her time as a Crossing Guard, a role she loved and dedicated herself to for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, swimming, watching the Little League World Series, and trips to Knoebels. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family—they meant everything to her.
Gidget will be lovingly remembered by her husband Lester; daughters, Nicole Spontarelli (James), and Sarah Reedy; grandchildren, Preston, Olivia, Levi, and Myla; sisters, Cynthia Harvey (Todd), and Bobbi Jo Wiand; brother, Clarence Reedy (Donna); several nieces and nephews.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Zweier Funeral Home, 157 Chestnut Street, Sunbury.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Gidget’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
