Lisa Shiffer Obituary

Lisa Shiffer, 61, from Sunbury, was called to the arms of her Lord and Savior Sunday evening, December 15, 2024, at her home unexpectedly. She was born Lisa Lucas on September 25, 1963, the daughter of Dessie Freeze and the late Frank Royko.

She leaves behind her two favorite daughters Jenny McAllister and Jessica Burgess. More importantly she leaves behind her five best friends, her grandchildren Alyce, Nolan, Adelyn, Aleena and Emma. She is survived by her boyfriend of 19 years Russell Bardonnex and siblings Terry Lindsey, Nancy Rowe, Cindy Bennick, Tammy Oyster and Linda Philhower.  She was proceeded in death by a grandson Coen Burgess and a brother Neil Royko.

She was a Shikellamy graduate in 1981 and devoted her professional life as a caregiver/home health aide.

As a simple woman she lived a full life. Her biggest pride and joys were her grandchildren. Every morning, she would check in with them staying active in their lives.  She enjoyed crafting with them, baking with and for them, doing puzzles with them, watching them play video games or playing with them. And most importantly she loved crying proudly at their performances and accomplishments. And when unsupervised she loved being mischievous with them. Her nonfiltered comments to them will be missed the most.

If she was not with her family, you would find her attending church at the Salvation Army, watching Hallmark movies, playing Animal Crossing, or watching church on tv.

Lisa had a heart of gold. Anyone who knew her for more than five minutes became her instant family.  And if you were family, she instantly became your favorite relative. She will be missed by all.

A viewing will be held by Zweier’s Funeral home Thursday December 19, 2024 from 10-11 followed by a service at 11.  Burial will be at Northumberland Memorial Park in Stonington immediately following the service. Family and friends are then invited to share memories at a luncheon at Sunbury Bible Church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lisa’s name can be made to the charity closest to your heart.
