Linda Booth Leeser Obituary

Linda Booth Leeser, 83, of Northumberland, PA passed away unexpectedly in her Point Township home on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025.

Linda was born Dec. 21, 1941, in Shamokin, the daughter of the late Marlin E. and Eleanor E. (Lehner) Booth. On Oct. 24, 1964, she married William N. Leeser Jr. who preceded her in death.

A proud honors graduate of Lewisburg High School's Class of 1959, Linda also graduated from business school. She had a diverse career as an executive secretary for Weis Markets, a loving stay-at-home mom, a clerk at the Book Nook, and spent 21 fulfilling years in the Classified Department of The Daily Item, where proofreading was her passion.

Linda is survived by one son, Christopher W. Leeser and partner Anthony Roybal, of Warren; one daughter, Amy E. Leeser of Selinsgrove; two cousins Margaret (Lehner) Heath of Shamokin and Sandra (Leeser) Koteita of Sunbury; two sisters-in-law, Carol Cassidy of Springfield, PA and Mary Beth Brochu of Sarasota, FL; niece Jacqueline Cassidy and nephews Mark, Brian, and David John Cassidy.

An avid pinochle player, Linda enjoyed her time spent playing hands with friends at the Sunbury Senior Center, with her Tuesday Card Club and, for over 60 years, with her Wednesday Card Club, where the ladies became her second family. She is survived by club members and long-time friends Jean Eckrod, Doris Farber, Patty Hollenbach, Sally Krouse, Amy Leeser, Sandi Ressler, Taff Rowe, Beth Snyder, Judie Thompson, and Snook Walker, and was preceded in death by Phyllis Hummel.

Linda loved to read and devoured thousands of books over her lifetime. After reading a few chapters she often ended her night with a bowl of ice cream (with lots of "goodies" in it) which she also devoured with equal verve. Linda never passed up an opportunity for conversation and had many stories to tell, often best told over a cup of black coffee served scalding hot.

Each year, she delighted in crocus as the first sign of spring and looked forward to tulips, lilies, azaleas, and rhododendrons bursting into bloom. Wandering the paths at Keithan's Bluebird Gardens in awe of the abundant flowers was an annual tradition. During sunny weather she loved to sit outside on her glider and enjoy the "blue green" days of summer, if lilacs were in bloom all the better. The reds, yellows, and oranges of autumn composed her favorite scenes in nature. A big red Christmas poinsettia always helped get her through the blustery greys of winter. She grew to enjoy watching birds year-round at her backyard feeders and the woodpeckers became her favorites. She was thrilled when rabbits, a ground hog, or white-tailed deer, especially a fawn, made an appearance.

Her greatest lesson was to practice unconditional love which she showered in abundance upon her children.

She was a 50-year member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Sunbury.
