Northumberland - Leila Christine Troup, 67
Leila was born June 19, 1953 and raised in northern New Jersey, the only child of the late Robert G. and Clarice (Parker) Nyberg. She graduated from Parsippany High School in 1971 and graduated cum laude from Wheaton College, IL in 1975. That same summer she married Ronald E. Troup, who survives.
Lee participated in the life of the churches Ron served as pastor in Connecticut, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She was a talented singer, both in choirs and as a soloist. She also ministered in teaching and youth ministry in several of the congregations.
Lee was employed in a wide variety of jobs, including assistant county librarian, teacher in a community action agency and in a junior college and as an administrative assistant. She particularly enjoyed vacations in Maine where her parents had a camp for many years.
Leila struggled with health issues in her last years. A woman of faith, she was relieved of her struggles and called to her home with Christ on January 16, 2021.
She is survived by her husband, two aunts, several cousins and a brother-in-law and niece, David and Jade Swisher.
Due to COVID concerns, the private funeral service will be live-streamed at 11:00am on Friday, January 22 through the Facebook page of Faith United Methodist Church, Sunbury. Friends are invited to a committal service at about 12:00pm in Northumberland Memorial Park, Rt. 61, Stonington. Please observe masking and social distance protocols.
