Lee F. Gottshall, 95, Northumberland, passed away Monday, December 29, at his home.
He was born September 26, 1930 in Sunbury, a son of the late Irwin and Viola (Snyder) Gottshall.
We remember with deep affection a man whose kindness, generosity, and quiet strength touched everyone who knew him. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, he served as a radar technician during the Korean War, logging thousands of hours in the air. After his honorable discharge, he returned home and began the next chapter of his life—one marked by devotion, hard work, and the joy of building a future. It was during this time that he married the love of his life, Pauline (Goshey), beginning a partnership that would span more than sixty years until her passing in 2017, a loss he carried with grace and enduring love.
His technical, mechanical, and electronic talents, honed during his military service, found new purpose in civilian life. He put those skills to good use working locally at Sanders Appliances and the Sheraton Inn Hotel, always approaching each task with precision, patience, and a desire to help others.
Those who knew him best will never forget the gleam in his eyes just before he delivered one of his quick‑witted, good‑natured remarks—moments that brought laughter and warmth to everyone around him.
He is survived by his beloved cousin, Kay, who meant the world to him, and whose bond with him remained strong throughout his life, and a few other cousins, family members and friends.
Lee was preceded in death by cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the laughter he shared, and the steady, gentle dignity with which he moved through the world.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, January 6, at 11:00am in Riverview Cemetery, Northumberland.
Contributions in Lee's memory may be made to the American Legion, 611 Market St. Sunbury.
Arrangements are by the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King Street, Northumberland
