Larry Barlet Obituary

Danville - Larry LaRue Barlet, 78 passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026 at Sunbury Skilled Nursing & Rehab, surrounded by his loved ones at his side.

He was born March 7, 1948 in Berwick, the son of the late Thomas F. and Clara M. (Silvers) Barlet.

He graduated from Nescopeck High School in 1966. He then enlisted in the US Army. Larry served the Army at a Nike Hercules Base near Niagara Falls, NY where he received a Letter of Commendation for his achievements along with a promotion to Specialist 4. Larry also served his country in Vietnam and was awarded two Army Commendations, a Bronze Star and the rank of Staff Seargent for his achievements. 

Larry attended Luzerne County Community College to pursue a degree in Business Administration.

He was employed by Dana Corporation as a heavy clamp operator, as well as other positions. He was a member of the UAW bargaining Committee. He also started and managed, Berwick Employees Credit Union.

He resided in many towns throughout the area, including; Catawissa, where he and his wife, Deb served as after hours managers for the seniors at the High-Rise. He and his wife moved to Danville in July 2009.

Larry loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman, hunter and loved metal detecting. Larry and his wife enjoyed going to different lakes and enjoyed picnics together and just enjoying the outdoors with each other.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Y. Barlet in 1981, brother, Kenneth L. Barlet in 2010 and fur-kitty, Savannah Hope in 2022.

Larry will be very sadly missed, but very much loved by his wife of 17 years, a total of 28 years together, the former Debra Neidig and his fur-kitties, Tazzy and Summer. He is also survived by, two sons, Ricky and Ronnnie Barlet, his grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Larry's family would like to express their sincere appreciation and thank you to the staff of Sunbury Skilled Nursing & Rehab and Compassus Hospice for their compassionate care of Larry.

Arrangements are by being made by the Blank Funeral Home, 395 State Street, Sunbury.
