Kenneth J Kearney Obituary

Kenneth J. Kearney, 80, of King Street, Northumberland, passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025, at his home.

He was born Jan. 21, 1944, a son of the late Kenneth A and Lilly (Wolf) Kearney. He graduated from Northumberland High School, class of 1961. After graduation he served in the Army and was stationed in Verdun, France.

He was married to the former Chere DeHart, who survives.

He is also survived by three daughters, Jamie Fairlamb (Robert), Brenna Mesaric (Scott) and Erin Kearney (Ryan Landis); one son, Kevin Kearney (Angela); grandchildren, Eric and Nathaniel Fairlamb, Daniel (Shauna) and Ryan (Rhiannon) Mesaric, Caitlin, Allison, Emma, Jesse, Jayda and Baylea Kearney; great-grandchildren, Trinity, Madelyn and Ronni Mesaric; one brother, Nathan Kearney (Kay); four sisters, Esther Stamm, Beverly Kuenseler (Robert), Ruth Rothermel (Butch) and Lois Goff; brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Bonnie Meckley; brother-in-law, Timothy DeHart, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Adrian Kearney; grandchild, Andrew Fairlamb; nephews, Brett Rothermel and Nathan Derr; and niece, Stacy Derr.

Ken worked for UPS, Conagra and Benjamin T. Moyer Furniture. He was very involved with his children. He coached Little League, soccer and flag football. He enjoyed going to his grandchildren's sporting events and Music in the Park. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and had been involved in co-coordination of “The Reach Out Food Pantry” since retirement. Everyone always commented about Ken being such a kind man, and he was that and so much more. He will be greatly missed by friends and family.

A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Trinity United Methodist Church, corner of 6th and King streets, Northumberland, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m.

Burial with military honors will be in Riverview Cemetery, Northumberland.
