Kay Dean Obituary
Northumberland - Kay L. Deans, 71, of Seventh Street, passed away Monday, September 25, 2023 at her home.
She was born November 25, 1951 in Lewisburg, a daughter of Emily I. Mertz who survives and the late Alvah W. Deans III.
Kay was a 1969 graduate of Shikellamy High School. She was the first Shikellamy brave mascot after the jointure. She proudly dedicated her career to helping others, and in 1982 graduated from Geisinger's School of Nursing.
Kay was a registered nurse for Geisinger Medical Center and at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Florida. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Northumberland. She was also a member of the Lewisburg #394 Order of the Eastern Star and the Kiwanis Club of Northumberland.
Kay was an avid reader. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. She loved traveling and having new experiences.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by one daughter Kalyn M. Deans and wife Mary Centrella, brother Todd E. Deans, nephew Brandon A. Deans, stepbrother Donald Roche and wife Gail, stepsister Carol Ayers and husband Robert.
She was preceded in death by her stepmother Dorothy Deans.
Friends and family may visit Friday, September 29th from noon-1:00pm at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King Street, Northumberland, where the memorial service will be held at 1:00pm with Pastor Dietmar Plajer officiating.
A private interment will be in Riverview Cemetery at a later date.
