Kathy Fisher Obituary

Sunbury - Kathy Ann Fisher, 62 of S. Awl Street Sunbury passed away on March 7, 2024 at her home.

She was born on February 21st, 1962 in Sunbury a daughter of the late James and Thelma (Reader) McCarthy.  On June 30th, 2000 she married Gary Fisher who preceded her in death on February 14, 2007.

Kathy attended the Shikellamy School System.

She was employed at Katie's Cleaners owned by William and Katie Pakuta in Sunbury and later managed the Bimbo Bakery Outlet store in Shamokin Dam for many years.

Mrs. Fisher was passionate about animal rights, she took many strays into her care and was faithful in feeding, sheltering, and sometimes adopting them.

She greatly valued friendship and family and had many lifelong friends that she would do anything for, and they for her.

While her uncle Bernell was in a nursing home as his heath declined, Kathy grew very fond of the therapy dog, Georgie trained and owned By Jim and Joan Smith. Georgie made many appearances at the bakery, and enjoyed taking walks with Kathy in the grassy lot next door.

Having no children of her own, Kathy adored children and was fond of all her cousin's children especially Joey and Logan.

She is survived by her brother, Ken Reader of Sunbury and a half-sister, Mary Jane.

A visitation will be held from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Friday, March 22, 2024 at the Blank Funeral Home 395 State Street, Sunbury followed by a memorial service at 2:00pm with Rev. Andrew Weaver officiating.

Interment will follow in United Lutheran Church Cemetery.
