“Awww PH!” Judith A. Snyder, 80, of Selinsgrove, passed away peacefully Monday, Nov. 18, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and sister-in-law, Judith was deeply cherished by all who knew her and leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, and strength.
Born Feb. 4, 1944, in Sunbury, Judith was the daughter of Charles and Sara Cupp Snyder. She married the love of her life, James Snyder who preceded her in death in 2021, and together they shared almost 50 wonderful years of marriage. Judith was the proud mother of her daughters, Michelle Bailey Smyers (Jesse), Melissa Snyder Barlett (Shawn), and her son, Michael Bailey, who preceded her in death in 2005. Her greatest joy in life was her family and especially being a grandmother to her beloved grandchildren, Samantha Schoenfeld (Keith), Sydney Conway (Alex) , Emma Barlett, Erin Barlett, and Eric Bailey.
As the owner of Arctic Duct and co-owner of Sunbury Supply Company, she demonstrated an entrepreneurial spirit that was both inspiring and innovative. Alongside her husband, she navigated challenges with grace and determination, proving that women could excel in business long before it became commonplace. Her contributions went beyond mere commerce; she embodied the essence of community spirit, always finding ways to uplift those around her.
Judith was committed to her community, actively participating in organizations that made a difference. Her involvement with the Kiwanis Club showcased her belief in service above self. As a lifelong member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Judith not only attended services but also took on significant roles, serving on the board, organizing and operating the church resale shop in Northumberland and teaching Sunday School, sharing her faith and nurturing the next generation.
Judith’s warmth and generosity touched the lives of so many. She was a constant source of support, love, and guidance to her family and friends. Her home was a place of comfort, where family and friends gathered to share in her hospitality and her heart.
As we remember Judith, we celebrate a life well-lived. — Her legacy will continue to inspire others to follow in her footsteps, ensuring that her warmth and generosity live on in the hearts of those she touched. Her favorite song, “We are family” will always bring a smile to everyone who was lucky enough to know her.
A viewing will be held Thursday, Nov. 21, from 5 to 7 p.m., along with a funeral service that will take place Friday, Nov. 22, at 11 a.m., officiated by Rev. Richard Fangman. All services will be held at Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury.
Following the service, there will be a procession to the Northumberland Memorial Cemetery where Judith will be laid to rest.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Toys for Tots in Judith's honor. She will be forever loved, forever remembered, and forever missed.
