Joyce L. Burd, a lifelong resident of Paxinos, peacefully entered heaven on November 30, surrounded by her family.

 

She was the daughter of the late Esther Elmira Erdman and S Frederick Snyder, born April 6, 1928 in Shamokin.  In 1947 she married Richard Burd who preceded her in death in 1975.  

 

Joyce worked for the U.S. Postal Service and Selinsgrove Center.  She worked for Bible Truth Institute in Sunbury after graduating from there in 1981.  

 

Joyce was a 24-year volunteer at Geisinger House of Care. 

 

She owned and operated Faith Book & Gift Store from 1984 to 2008, 

which nourished all of her passions, God, books, and people!

 

She is survived by her children Janet Souza, Rick (Cathy) Burd, Lydia (Marty) Brown, Linette Burd (John Moyer), grandchildren Nathan Burd, Aaron Tarr, Heather Rojas, Eric Kelley, Levi Tarr, and Savannah Moyer, thirteen great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter and loving nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her daughter Belinda Samp, granddaughter Rachel Morton and her sisters Phyllis Boyer and Betty Chislom.

 

We are so thankful for the Godly and prayerful mother we had.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to her church Stonington Baptist Church, 2113 Hosta Road Paxinos 17860 or the Ralpho Township Library 206 S Market Street, Elysburg, PA 17824.

 

A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 4, at 10:00am at the Blank Funeral Home, 395 State Street, Sunbury.

 

Burial will be in Ashgrove United Methodist Church Cemetery, Paxinos.
