Joseph F. Long Obituary

Joseph “Joe” Long, a resident of Northumberland, was born December 18,1966 at Sunbury Community Hospital.  Following his graduation from Milton HS, he began his employment with Keystone Human Services, a lifelong member of the team for over 40 years.  Through all the years, role changes, and people involved, Joe’s dedication and work ethic never faltered.  He prided himself on always being the one that every turned to whenever something was needed.  Joe was always the one to get the job done, no matter the time of day or night.

Joe married Michele Domanski in 1991, together they raised four wonderful sons.  He is survived by his family,  Michele, Michael and Kerry Hoffman of Old Forge, Matthew Long and Danielle of Northumberland, Jonah Long and Anna of Selinsgrove, Noah and Elise Long of New Columbia.  His sister Mary Funk, his lifelong friend, her husband Dave, and his niece Megan Funk and her spouse Melissa, all of Milton.  He leaves behind four grandchildren, Pyper, Mikey, Lennon, Maxton, as well as Rustyn, who will be born this month.

Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Betzer, stepfather Bill Betzer, and father Joseph Long.  Also meeting Joe in heaven with his fishing rod in hand is his beloved nephew, Ryan Funk.

Joe was always a family man who loved to take family vacations to the beach, Disney, or on a cruise in the Bahamas.  He was always the “Pop Pop” on call whenever and wherever he was needed, whether that was to let the dogs out when someone was either going somewhere or simply stuck at work, or giving rides to and from garage visits, you could always count on him.  Joe took pride in always being the support that any of his loved ones needed, no matter the time of day.  Joe also enjoyed dinners with his family.  Both at work and at home.  He will leave a hole in the hearts of many, taken from our lives way too soon.

Joe would not want all to be saddened by his passing, but rather smile in the memories, and imagine hearing the ocean waves in the background.

In lieu of flowers, Joe’s family requests that everyone hug their loved ones a little tighter, or even a phone call to “check in”.  You never know when the last hug or conversation may be the last.

A visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00pm-7:00pm at the Blank Funeral Home, 395 State Street, Sunbury, PA   17801.
