Joan Ann Morgan

Joan Ann Morgan, of Ringtown, was born on January 26, 1946 and died on August 4, 2024. She is survived by her life partner of 44 years, Marilyn Morgan.  The youngest of nine children, Joan is survived by her brother, Don Morgan of Selinsgrove, his wife Alice and a sister, Mary Ellen Overkott, of Virginia. Also counted as survivors are well over 150 nieces, nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. Joan graduated from Mahonoy Area High school in 1964. 

Joan was devoted to her family and loyal to her friends. She loved music, singing, (she had a lovely voice) womens’ sports, traveling, and Studebakers. She was a volunteer at the Ringtown food bank. Her church family at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Susquehanna Valley, where she worked tirelessly for their annual yard sales, was a very important part of her life. As was laughter. She had a sly sense of humor. She could be stubborn, but if she were your friend you would never doubt her loyalty.

An avid animal lover, Joan contributed to many animal rescue organizations, especially Mostly Mutts, in Sunbury, from which she adopted her beloved dog, Ti.  She generously supported causes she believed in: Native American rights, LGBTQ+ rights, women’s rights. But most of all Joan worked for peace. It was her guiding principle, and kindness was how she practiced it.  It was her fervent hope that we as human beings would eventually find peace and justice and equity for all living beings. She will be missed by family and friends who loved her.
