Jeffrey Barton Smith of Sunbury PA died on October 14th, 2023, at the age of 56.  He was born in Lancaster, PA on September 18, 1967.  He was the son of Ida Jeanne Smith and the late Barry Orville Smith.

He is survived by a sister, Cynthia Lea Smith wife of Andrew Parr and nephew Jacob Dale Parr of Blacksburg, Virginia.

Jeffrey graduated from Central Penn Business School with an Associate Degree in Accounting. He worked for Weis Markets in the main office in Sunbury.  Jeffrey achieved the rank of Eagle Scout which is the highest award in boy scouting.

Jeffrey was a member of Grace Lutheran Church located in Sunbury, he was an Assistant Minister and active with the youth, Sunday School treasurer, served on the church council and on Christmas Eve would sing the first verse of Silent Night in German. He would be the first person to arrive on Sunday morning, helping to make sure that everything was in its proper place for the service. When Grace closed, he transferred to Zion Lutheran church where he sang in the choir and was on the worship and music committee.

Jeffrey was a Mason and served as Worshipful Master of Lodge 22, High Priest of Northumberland Royal Arch Chapter, Thrice Illustrious Master of Vallerchamp Council, and Emminent Commander of Mt. Herman Commanery all located in Sunbury.  He was honored with the York Rite Cross of Honor. He was a Past Puissant Sovereign of Allied Masonic Degree Robert L. Rooke Council No. 343, a member of the Red Cross of Constantine, The Tall Cedars of Lebanon and was a Past Grand Tall. Jeffrey was a 32 Degree Mason belonging to the Valley of Williamsport Scottish Rite being honored with the Meritorious Service Award.

Jeffrey was a member of Sunbury Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and was a Past Worthy Patron, also a member of the Fort Augusta Court Order of the Amaranth and was a Past Royal Patron.

He was a member of the Sunbury Kiwanis Club.

Jeff was an individual that wanted to be involved, not just as a member but someone that contributed to the betterment of the organization he was associated with and that of society.

A Memorial Service be held at 11:00 A.M. October 21st at Zion Lutheran Church, 15 S. 5th Street, Sunbury, PA 17801. A Masonic, Order of the Eastern Star and Order of Amaranth will be held prior to the Memorial Service at 10:00 A.M.
