Lewisburg - James E. Taylor, Sr., 78, of Century Drive, passed away Friday, June 28th at his home.
James was born April 5, 1946, in Mitchell, SD, a son of the late Harvey M. and Dorothy V. (Braun) Taylor. On July 17, 2005, he married Ruth Pelton Deppen who preceded him in death.
He proudly served in the United States Navy.
James was a corrections officer at the Huntington State Prison until his retirement in 2005. He worked at Rustic Country Furniture in his free time when he wasn’t chasing his other 3 hobbies, travel, bowling and model trains.
He was a member of the United Lutheran Church, Sunbury.
James was a member of the Sunbury American Legion, the Sunbury Area Bowling Association, Loose Ties Model Railroad Club of Lewisburg and he enjoyed travelling.
He is survived by a daughter Sheri L. Taylor, grandchildren Shayanne N. Ordway (Robert), Oriana K. Hewa, James E. Taylor III, Brody A. Taylor, great grandson Leon, one brother Gene H. Taylor (Georgia J.) one sister Sharon R. Howell and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son James E. Taylor Jr.
A graveside service will be held Friday, July 5, at 9:00am in Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury, with military honors.
