James E. Rodkey Obituary

James E. Rodkey, 64, of State Route 61, Sunbury, passed away Friday, Jan. 24, 2025, in his home.

Jim was born Jan. 3, 1961, in Roswell, New Mexico, a son of the late Kenneth E. Rodkey who passed on April 23, 2016, and Roslyn J. (Hornberger) Rodkey who survives. He was a 1978 graduate of Shikellamy High School. On Sept. 18, 1982, he married Pamela F. Rogers who preceded him in death on Aug 2, 2020.

Jim’s career was in construction working for Zartman Construction, KJ Miles Construction, T-Ross Brothers Construction and Hepco Construction.

Jim enjoyed watching John Wayne western shows, Looney Tunes cartoons on Saturday mornings and a variety of sports on TV. He was an avid Penn State football and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He enjoyed playing pool; was fascinated with aliens and any myths of alien life. Jim’s drink of choice was a cold, watered down with ice Coors Light beer served in a large mug.

In addition to his mother, Jim is survived by one son, Drew A. Rodkey and his fiancee’ Alyssa J. Strawser; one daughter, Angelina N. Rodkey; four grandchildren, Kyle A. Snyder, Ryland O., Corey L. and Phoebe A. Rodkey; one brother, Jeffrey A. Rodkey and his wife Julie A.; two sisters-in-law, Debora M. Bordner and Marianne Rogers-Worth, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his faithful, four-legged friend, Diesel.

Jim’s family would like to thank the Geisinger nurses that provided in-home care to him over the last several years.

A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at the Zweier Funeral Home, 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Nick Gittens officiating.

Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Northumberland
