James Allen Persing Jr., 87, passed away Monday, February 10th, 2020 at Milton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease. Jim was born December 26, 1932, in Union Bridge,MD the son of Isabella (Barnhart) Persing and James Allen Persing Sr.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years, Esther M. (Frehafer) Persing. They were married January 5, 1951.
Jim was a US Marine Corps veteran and member of American Legion Post 44. He was a member of Truth and Restoration Church in Milton. He was an avid sportsman, an expert archer, and life member of Shikellamy Archery Club.
Jim retired from American Home Products, Milton, after 29 years.
He is survived by his children; son David of Northumberland; daughters Kathy Schleig and husband Jim of Sunbury; Linda of Atlanta, Ga.; and Teresa Meisinger and husband Vince of Montandon eight grandchildren, Gina Musser, James Schleig, Jr., Lisa Lenig, Marie Reichard, Joe Tamanini, Scott Klobe, Matthew Klobe and Nathan Persing. Jim had eight great-grandchildren; Dais, Tiffany, Maryssa, Kira, Stephani, Bethany, Bryce, Lillian and Liam; and one great-great grandson, Kole. Jim has a surviving brother, Richard, of Ohio. Brothers William and John preceded him in death.
He was preceded in death by sons, Matthew and James III and brothers, William and John.
Visitation will be held from 9:00am-11:00am, Saturday, February 15, at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland with funeral services at 11:00am. Pastor Mandy Rhodes from Christ Wesleyan Church, is officiating.
Interment with full military honors will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Northumberland,
