James Hollenbach, 65, a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, passed away suddenly Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024.
A son of Marlin Hollenbach and Eleanor Rebecca (Kreis) Hollenbach, he was a 1976 graduate of Shikellamy High School.
He enjoyed golfing, was on the bowling league, and active gardener and thought of himself as comedic. He added sarcasm to everything. James, aka Jim had been on a local softball league for many years and taught his daughter the sport and instilled his passion of it to her. He was also a fanatic of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies.
Not only did he serve in the Marine Corps but he obtained a degree in civil engineering from WACC and spent most of his life working for the United States Geological Survey as a hydrological technician. (A mouthful to say but something he took much pride in doing for his career.)
He is survived by his father, Marlin Hollenbach of Northumberland; brother, Cliff Hollenbach and his wife Tess of Northumberland; sister, Judy Boyer and her husband Scott of Northumberland; daughter and only child, Jennifer Levy and her husband Kris of New Berlin; grandson, Gavin Munns also of New Berlin; granddaughter, Keira Munns and her partner Jasper Faircloth of Mifflinburg; his first great-grandson, Jordan Lynch Faircloth of Mifflinburg; a niece, Rebecca Boyer; nephews, Nathan Boyer, Christopher Hollenbach and Robert Narvell. He had many other relatives not listed and a good friend, Julie Bricker.
A memorial service will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland. Donations and flowers may be sent there or to 140 Blue Hill Road, Northumberland.
