J. Meckley Obituary

J. Leonard Meckley Sr., 80, of State Route 890, Sunbury, went home to be with his Lord, Sunday, Sept. 1, 2024.

Leonard was born Aug. 15, 1944, a son of the late John H. and Minnie P. (Wolfe) Meckley. On Oct. 1, 1966, he married the late Sharon E. Meckley, who passed on Oct. 1, 2023.

He was a graduate of Sunbury High School.

Leonard was a devoted entrepreneur and businessman of Northumberland, Snyder and Union County and surrounding communities. He was an owner of Survey Services, Inc. transitioned to Meck Tech Inc., and Diversified Construction Inc., from 1971 to 2018.

He was a devoted member of the Augustaville Wesleyan Church, Paxinos.

Leonard, along with his late wife Sharon, spent their years nurturing their family with unwavering love, guiding them with the values of compassion, honesty, and humility. He devoted his time and energy into so many lives through fellowship, leadership and Christian love. He enjoyed working on cars, mowing grass and helping anyone, anytime, anywhere.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Lynette Marie and Arthur Thomas; two sons and daughters-in-law, J. Leonard Jr. and Joanie Meckley and Todd Andrew and Lisa Meckley; grandchildren, Michael, Amy, Samuel, Rachael, Angela, Nathan, Jake and Addison; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Maya; one sister-in-law, Roberta Haupt, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Rachel Kunkle.

Friends and family may visit from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Augustaville Wesleyan Church, 2548 PA-890, Paxinos, PA 17860, where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Greg Clendaniels officiating.

Interment will be held following the church service, in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.

In honor of Leonard's love for Jesus and children, it is appreciated, in lieu of flowers, if guests donate to the children and youth programs at the Augustaville Wesleyan Church.

Arrangements are by the Zweier Funeral Home, 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury.
