SUNBURY — H. Elaine Attinger, 83, a former resident of Chestnut Towers, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at the Golden Living Center-Mansion where she had been a resident.
She was born Jan. 23, 1932, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Charles and Helen N. (Woodcock) Attinger.
Elaine was a 1950 graduate of Sunbury High School.
She was employed as an office clerk for Weis Markets Inc., and retired after 38 years of service.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Sunbury.
Elaine was an avid fan of the former Sunbury Mercuries basketball team. Later she enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
She is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Marilyn Attinger, of Northumberland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Horace A. Attinger, Paul R. Attinger and his wife, Kathryn, William R. Attinger and his wife, Mary Ellen; and two sisters, Betty I. Miller and Allethea Bell and her husband, Jim.
Friends and family may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland, followed by the funeral at 11 with the Rev. Andrew Fitch officiating.
Burial will follow in Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam.
