Shamokin Dam - Ethel P. Broschart, 90, of Eleventh Avenue, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at the Celebration Villa of Lewisburg.
Ethel was born April 30, 1934, in Sunbury a daughter of the late John H. and Pauline S. (Snyder) Propst. On December 26, 1952, she married Joseph W. Broschart who preceded her in death August 17, 2014.
She was a 1952 graduate of Sunbury High School.
Ethel was a preschool teacher for St. John's Lutheran Church, Northumberland for many years.
She was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Shamokin Dam.
Ethel was a member of the Lions Club.
She enjoyed arts and crafts and making cards for shut ins.
Ethel is survived by her sons Joseph Broschart Jr. (Judy), Robert Broschart (Brenda), David Broschart (Kelly), daughters Barbara Hare (Richard), Betty Duncan (William), 14 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great -great grandchildren, brothers Thomas Propst (Patricia), John Propst (Nancy) and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Donald Propst, and two sisters in infancy Sarah and Barbara.
A viewing will be held Monday, December 30, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 3249 N Old Trail, Shamokin Dam, at 10:00am where the funeral service will be held at 11:00am with Pastor Mindy Bartholomew officiating.
Interment will follow in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
