Edward L. Baker, 79, of Front Street, Northumberland, passed away peacefully at his home on Feb. 1, 2026.
Born Aug. 27, 1946, in Lewisburg, he was a son of the late James E. and Frances E. (Osman) Baker. Edward was a 1964 graduate of Sunbury High School.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from January 1969 to December 1971 aboard the USS Saratoga. A devoted veteran, Edward remained deeply supportive of veterans’ causes throughout his life, with a special affection for the USS Saratoga and its legacy. He was a member of both the VFW and the American Legion, and he also gave his time to the Boy Scouts.
Edward was employed as an instrument man with PP&L until his retirement. Outside of work, he was known for his quiet loyalty, steady presence, and deep love for dogs — rarely being without a trusted canine companion.
He is survived by his son, Chris Baker; a brother, Jim Baker; a sister, Judy Raup, and his faithful companion, Cody.
A viewing will be held Friday, Feb. 6, 2026, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Northumberland.
