Donald E. Neitz Sr., 99, of Northumberland passed away peacefully at Nottingham Village, Northumberland, Pa., on June 11, 2026. Born May 22, 1927 he was the son of Dorthy R. Johnson.
He was a member of the First Reformed United Church of Christ, Sunbury. On Dec. 31, 1950, he married his beloved wife Martha L. (Mottern) Neitz who preceded him in death in 1994. Together they shared 44 lovely years together.
They are survived by two sons, William O. Smith of Lewisburg, Donald E. Neitz Jr. (Tina) of Sunbury and one daughter, Linda Kay Keiper (Dan) of Northumberland; six grandchildren, Annette Feltman (Brian), Tammy Sears (Tim), Brian Neitz (Chelsy), Chad Neitz (Jessica), Leyna Kipp (Levi), Chelsey Aukamp (Zach), and 11 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
In 2005, he married Phyllis Fisher and together they spent 15 wonderful years together before her passing in May 2021.
He was a graduate of Lewisburg High School with the class of 1944. Upon graduation, he joined the military during World War II serving in the Army from 1945 to 1950. He served two years overseas in France and Germany. Upon his honorable discharge, he joined the Lewisburg Active Reserves for six years. He also was a life time member of Sunbury American Legion Post 201.
He began his working career at Jasper Wood Products in Watsontown. Later he worked for Clasters Lumber Company in Watsontown, Bloomsburg, and Sunbury. In 1970, he left Clasters to work at Geisinger Medical Center as a Supervisor in the purchasing department. He retired from Geisinger after 21 years of loyal service.
He loved to travel and going out to eat. He loved going to sporting events and watching sports on TV especially his beloved Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers. His greatest joy was his family and holiday get togethers.
His family is very grateful to the staff and everyone at Nottingham Village in Northumberland for their dedication and care given to him the last couple of years.
At the wishes of the family there will be no service.
