Paxinos - Deborah J. Sands, 64 of Old Reading Road passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at her mother's home surrounded by her family.  Debbie fought a long battle with several glioblastoma brain tumors.

She was born May 2, 1961 in Sunbury a daughter of the late Charles Swartzlander, the late George Weaver and Mary (Bowman) Weaver of Sunbury.

She was a 1979 graduate of Shikellamy High School. In June of 1979 she married Thomas Sands who preceded her in death on July 14, 2007.

As an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sunbury, Debbie volunteered with many activities with the youth and always helped where she was needed.

In addition to her mother, Debbie is survived by; her son and daughter-in-law, her daughter, Jennifer Sands and partner, John Benham, three grandchildren, Kenzie, Maddie and Matthew Benham, sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Gorman Findley.

She was preceded in death by; her brother, Michael Swartzlander and her grandparents.

A viewing will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at the Blank Funeral Home, 395 State Street, Sunbury and again from 10:00am to 11:00am on Wednesday followed by funeral services at 11:00am with Rev. Beth George and Rev. Richard Fangmann officiating.

Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
