Deborah M Dagle Obituary

Deborah M. Dagle, 72, of Jefferson Street, Northumberland, passed away suddenly on Monday, Nov. 10, 2025, at her home.
She was born April 30, 1953, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late James B. Peters and Jane (Southwick) Mathias and adoptive father Roy P. Mathias.
On Dec. 3, 1978, she married Stephen J. Dagle who survives her.
Debbie was a 1971 graduate of Lewisburg High School and received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Susquehanna University in 1975.
Following graduation, she was hired by her future husband, Stephen, at John Dagle Jewelers, Sunbury. She worked there for many years, taking some time off while her children were young.
In 2002, she received an Associates Degree in Medical Assisting from McCann School of Business, where she was co-valedictorian, then worked at Family Practice, Shamokin Dam, for eight years. She later returned to work with her husband at John Dagle Jewelers until the business closed in 2015.
Debbie was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sunbury where she sang in the choir, served as an assistant minister, was in the worship and music committee and was supportive in the Stephen Ministries.
She was an active member of her neighborhood book club and served her community by volunteering at the local voting poll and the Degenstein Community Library.
Debbie enjoyed gardening, singing, reading, spending time with her granddaughters, tending to her plants and had a great love for animals, especially her cats. She was a very creative person and recently enjoyed getting back into drawing.
In addition to her husband of 46 years, Debbie is survived by her son, Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan S. Dagle (Ret.) and wife, Cynthia A. Stuebner of Alexandria, Va.;, daughter and son-in-law, Hilary D. and Grant W. Cook of Harleysville, Pa.; granddaughters, Madison and Stella, brother, Roger Mathias of Spotsylvania, Va.; brother, James J. Peters and wife Raquel of Calif.; sister, Dr. Jamie S. Peters and husband Duncan Seffern II of Calif.; aunt, Ruth E. Southwick of Maplewood, N.J.; step-mother, Peggy Peters of Kutztown, and niece Robin Peters.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 17, at Zion Lutheran Church, 15 S. Fifth St., Sunbury, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Beth George officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Debbie's memory may be made to the Special Music Fund at Zion Lutheran Church,  Pennsylvania SPCA, or a charity of donor’s choice.
Arrangements are by the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King Street, Northumberland.
