David P. Murray Obituary

David P. Murray, 87, a resident of 58 Neitz Road, Nottingham Village passed

away peacefully on Oct. 4, 2024.

Murray, as he was affectionately known to his friends, was born on August 6,

1937 in Sunbury. He was the son of the late Andrew and Jewel Murray. He was of

the Catholic faith. He was the last of his remaining family.

Murray was a 1955 graduate of Sunbury High School, after graduation he

enlisted with the United States Air Force, serving from 1955 to 1959. He then

worked for Paulsen Wire Rope, Sunbury, as a supervisor, spanning a career of 43

years.

His biggest accomplishment was as the former Chairman of the Transportation

Committee of The Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce, he was

instrumental in the construction of both the Thomas Edison and Joseph Priestley

bridges.

Dave had many friends, and seemed to know someone wherever he went. He

was an avid sports fan for the Philadelphia Phillies, Eagles, and Flyers. Dave also

enjoyed coaching at The Northumberland Acorn Little League.

Surviving are his two stepsons, Greg Bettleyon and wife Janet, of Selinsgrove,

and Mark Bettleyon and wife Wendy, of Sunbury. He was especially proud of his

six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
