Daniel R. Duttinger Sr., 81, of Sunbury, Pa., passed away on Feb. 17, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. He was born on May 13, 1944, in Stonington, Pa., son of the late George Duttinger and Carrie (Snyder) Duttinger.
He graduated from Shamokin Area High School in 1962 and worked as a machinist, first at Forge-Flo in Sunbury and later at Smith Machine Works in Danville. He also owned and operated his own lawn care business, Duttinger Lawn Care.
When he still enjoyed his good health, Daniel enjoyed golfing, home improvement projects, and
spending time with his cats, especially his special kitty, “Dottie.” His children will always cherish their time spent with him, such as the many little trips taken with him and their mom when they were young — to beaches, campgrounds, and amusement parks. And of course everyone will remember him for his silly sense of humor.
Daniel was preceded in death by three brothers, David, James and Kenneth, and three sisters, Bette (Lockard), Jeanette (Swope), and Lois (Sutter).
Daniel is survived by Lois Duttinger, or as he called her, “his beautiful wife,” married Oct. 3, 1964, and together 61 years. He also leaves behind one sister, Marlene Lyons; his two sons, Daniel Jr. and Douglas (and his wife, Annie); one daughter, Teresa (and her partner, Jimmy Michaels); one granddaughter, Janelle (and her husband, Richard), and one great-granddaughter, Ava.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Monday, Feb. 23, at 1 p.m.,
Northumberland Memorial Park, 2956 Pa. Route 61, Sunbury. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haven To Home Canine Rescue, PO Box 851 Berwick, Pa., 18603.
Arrangements are by the Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury.
