Catharine Zimmerman Obituary

On October 6, our beloved sister and Aunt, Catharine Joan Zimmerman, was called to live eternally with the Lord in heaven.  Born in Alexandria, Virginia on August 31, 1943, Catharine spent her childhood years there before moving with her family to Mountain Top, PA then finally settling in Sunbury, where she lived for nearly 65 years. Catharine graduated from Sunbury High School in 1961 and began working with First National Bank in the bookkeeping department until her retirement over 30 years later.  While living in Sunbury, Catharine became very involved in her church as a member of Zion Lutheran.  She faithfully served Zion for over 50 years, teaching Sunday school with the younger children, assisting in the Nursery, and helping with different aspects of communion.  Catharine was preceded in death by her parents, L. Priscilla and Nevin Zimmerman and her sister and brother-in-law Bonnie and Owen Underkoffler.  She is survived by her loving family; sister and brother-in-law Elizabeth and Richard Haslam of Lansdale, PA; Nieces and their spouses Richel Haslam-Hemmer and John Hemmer of Annandale, VA and Kera Haslam and Matthew Conard of Lansdale, PA; 3 great-nieces whom she dearly adored Kaylee, Olivia, and Emmaline; and her sweet kitty, Moses.

Funeral services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 15 S Fifth St., Sunbury on Saturday October 14.  Visitation beginning at 9:00 AM followed by the funeral service at 10:00 AM.  Burial to follow at Pomfret Manor Cemetery.

Donations in Memorium may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 15 S Fifth St., Sunbury, PA or World Wildlife Fund @www.worldwildlife.org
