Carole Ann (Beck) App of Selinsgrove, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026 at Nottingham Village, Northumberland, PA.
She was born on January 18, 1938 to the late Dr. William and Ruth (Congdon) Beck in Sunbury, PA. On October 10, 1959 she married James App. Together they would have celebrated 67 years of marriage this year.
Carole graduated from Sunbury High School in 1955. She was proud to be a Sunbury Owl.
After high school, she attended Allentown Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated in 1958 with an RN Diploma degree in Science and Nursing Arts. Over the years in addition to raising her daughters, she practiced nursing at Geisinger, Selinsgrove State School, and the Doctors Convalescent Home.
In high school, Carole was a member of the band where she excelled at playing the flute and qualified several times for district-level band events. Carole was very honored to have played in the SHS band for the inauguration of President Dwight Eisenhower. On several occasions, she organized and spearheaded the annual Girl Scout Cookie Campaign, which led to a house filled with cookie boxes! Additionally, she dedicated much time to assisting her daughters’ 4-H club by completing life-skills service projects with them and their friends. For many years, she used her nursing skills to volunteer at local American Red Cross Blood Drives. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Sunbury Chapter #266, and Sharon Lutheran Church in Selinsgrove.
Carole greatly enjoyed traveling with her family. Some of her favorite adventures were: annual visits to the McAlister House in Surf City, NJ; spending time in Florida during the cold PA winters; exploring Europe, especially Switzerland; cruises to the Southern Caribbean, and family car vacations to Nova Scotia, San Diego Zoo, Texas, and Mexico.
Carole had a true love of all animals, except snakes. She had a vast number of pets, including: Flower a descented skunk, Poochie a rabbit, Taffy her Collie dog, many chinchillas, and several spoiled cats-Fuji, Tisheina, Komeeki, Rama, and Simon.
