Carol L. Smith

Carol L. Smith, 91, Northumberland, former resident of Old Danville Highway, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024, at Sunbury Nursing & Rehab.
Carol was born May 16, 1932 in Sunbury a daughter of the late William and Ruth (Swimelar) Bird. On June 17, 1950, she married Charles K. "Smitty" Smith Jr. who preceded her in death on June 30, 2020.
She was a 1950 graduate of Northumberland High School. Mrs. Smith was a life member of Grace Lutheran Church in Point Township.
Carol took great care of her family, her home and meticulously maintained her lawn.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Jane Smith of Sunbury, Jim and Tracy Smith of Northumberland; one daughter, Jill Quarles of Northumberland; her grandchildren and spouses, Bryan and Julie Smith, Erik and Ashley Smith, Nikki Supsic and partner, Lauren, Taylor Smith and fiancé, Mick, Toniell and Mike Ericksen, Blair and Nick Coleman, Kelsey and Sam Kline, and her nine great-grandchildren.
Carol was preceded in death by son-in-law, Walter Quarles II; brother and sister-in-law, James and Nancy Bird, and sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bill Brungard.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland with Rev. Steven Middernacht officiating.
Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Northumberland.
